SAT test structure

SAT test includes 3 main parts: Maths, Critical Reading and Writing. Each section is marked between 200 and 800. The total score is equal to the sum up of each section’s score times 10. The whole test is about 4 hours.

The SAT critical reading section gives you a chance to show how well you understand what you read. There are two types of multiple-choice questions in the critical reading section:

  • Sentence completion questions test your vocabulary and your understanding of sentence structure. (19 questions)
  • Passage-based reading questions test your comprehension of what is stated in or implied by the passage, not your prior knowledge of the topic. (48 questions)

The mathematics section of the SAT contains two types of questions:

  • Multiple-choice questions (44 questions)
  • Student-produced response questions appear without answer choices. You'll use your answer sheet to "grid in" your solution. (10 questions)

The SAT test begins with an essay. You'll be asked to present and support a point of view on a specific issue. Because you have only 25 minutes, your essay is not expected to be polished.

The SAT writing section also includes three types of multiple-choice questions:

  • Improving sentences (25 questions)
  • Identifying sentence errors (18 questions)
  • Improving paragraphs (6 questions)

Elite SAT

The Best SAT Program for top high school students in the Greater Vancouver Area

Almost all our SAT students receive high scores on SAT 1 from Franklin. We help them achieve their dreams studying in top American universities. Franklin makes it possible to help students enter IVY.

Based on the SAT official guide, we developed our own teaching materials that are best fit local students to prepare for the SAT test. We have got a star instructor Michelle who graduated from UBC (Master in English). Not only does she help students improve their English ability, but she also focuses on developing certain skills for university study.

The teaching approach in Franklin is Cognitive Communicative Approach which combines the advantages of Canadian teaching system and Chinese teaching system. This approach is the most appropriate one for most Asian students who study in Canada. Students in Franklin are able to study SAT and TOEFL together in order to solve reading difficulties and writing difficulties. In addition, small class is another advantage, which effectively helps students improve their English skills.

Teaching quality is our core in Franklin. Michelle would like to study or work together with her students to understand reading passages deeply, and she helps them develop their individual thinking ability. She shares her experience of what students have to have in order to successfully finish academic courses after they enter universities.

Therefore, the SAT program will provide students both high score on the exam and knowledge needed in the university. Students always say they become smarter after studying with Michelle.
